Help One Person

One year ago I set out on a mission to help one person.

Just one.

I know that doesn't seem like a very important mission.

For me, it was a game changer.

You see before that one decision I struggled with feeling inadequate.

I felt like I didn't have anything to offer anyone.

Why did I feel this way?

Because I was doing the wrong thing!

I was sitting by myself in an office working on the compliance manuals or marketing for our financial firm. That's it. That's what I did every single day. I'll be honest I hated doing it. Each day I felt less and less energy. I felt drained and unhappy. I blamed everyone else because I thought it was their fault that I had to do this. Guess what I learned? All of those stories were false!

One year ago I stopped telling myself those stories and I put all of my energy into helping one person by writing a book called, "Life Under Construction: Designing a Life You Love!"

(*For those of you wondering who now does that work at my financial firm...I found people for it. It was fabulous!)

I remember sitting in front of my computer and I started to write and write and research and discover and hope. Day after day I committed to my mission to help one person. Allison, just help one person I thought. If I helped one that would make all of this work worth it.

This past week we went on vacation and I was blown away because I received a message from someone each and every day that I was on vacation. These are people that I did not know I would help last year! WOW!

The above testimonial was one of my favorites. I remember meeting this phenomenal woman after speaking in Madison at the WED conference. I didn't know what she was going through, or that she would be one of the people my book helped, but she was. And for that, I'm so very grateful and humbled. Keep going Crystal!

What I've learned is that I only need to focus on helping one person and my whole life would transform!

XO

Allison
