Be PRESENT

Can I admit something? I am an over planner. It's really becoming an issue in my life. I like to create plans for my plans if that makes any sense.

Over the past couple of years, I have been going so many different directions that I never just stopped and appreciated the moment before I was thinking about the future or planning something else.

Guess what happens when you spend all your time in planning mode? You miss all of the present moments. You're checked out of what's happening around you because you are so focused on the future. I think in our hyper-connected world it is easy to get drawn into thinking about everything else but the moment that we find ourselves in.

So, today I am declaring the day that I am going to work on being more present. More present with my kids (who are only small once), my husband, my family, and my friends.

I'd challenge you to do the same. Turn off your phone, I promise the world will keep spinning. Don't check FB or Linked In for the entire weekend. Turn off the tv.

Go outside. Read a book (not on your iPad). Go for a walk. Play a game. Just be present and then, after your break. Let me know how it felt. :)
