Are you a can do or a can't do person?

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’re right” Henry Ford

Today’s topic is about what you can do and what you can’t do. I like to think that I can do anything, however there are definitely things that will be out of my reach… I do think that if I really want to accomplish something and it’s in my strength zone I can do it.

Have you evaluated whether you are a “can do” or “can’t do” person?

Let me explain, a can do person sees possibilities, they see obstacles as opportunities, they see the cup not only half full, but it’s overflowing and abundant with opportunities, a can-do person strives for excellence, a can do person wants to do more, be more, and have more in their life. A can do person may take on a huge project that’s way bigger than anything they’ve ever done….but says, I’ll figure it out.

Here is how a can’t do person sees the world. A can’t do person is filled with negativity. You can clearly spot a can’t do person by the words they say and the actions they take. Listen and watch and they’ll let you know if they are a can’t do person. “Can’t do” people see the negative side of most situations. They like to make excuses for why it won’t work. They like to spread negative gossip. They think that everyone else is wrong. They can’t see the positive in other people because they’re constantly putting themselves down. They compare, judge, and don’t want good for others. They think in terms of lack or that there is never enough…of anything.

After hearing the can do vs. the can’t do person I want you to be honest with yourself. Are you a can-do person or a can’t do person most of the time?

There is hope for you if you are a can’t do person. I’ll admit I’ve been there. In some of my most difficult situations I turned into a can’t do person. I’ll admit it and it was tough.

The great thing about life is that each day we wake up, we have another opportunity to choose who we are and how we’re going to bring ourselves to the world. Today, you have a choice to become a “can-do” person.

How can you switch to a can-do person? Identify where in your life you’ve been a can’t do person. Is is in your job, your relationships, or your health?

Why have you been a can’t do person? I’d recommend you take some time to write out the reasons you’ve felt the need to look at the negative in this area of your life. What’s causing this? What situations are happening?

Read what you just wrote down and circle the top two reasons for this can’t do perspective. Then write out the way you would turn this into a “can-do” perspective” For example if you have a big project that you feel like you can’t do because you’re overwhelmed by it. How could you start it? What’s something small that you could do today toward the goal of completing the project?

Today, remember you get to choose who you’ll be a “can do” person or a “can’t do” person. You have a choice to make and I believe that each of you can become “can do” people.

Thank you! Have a great day!

Make today amazing!
